When it comes to wedding favours, there’s no shortage of creative ideas. I’ve seen my fair share of unique and personalized gifts, from s’mores kits to marshmallow toasting sets. When our campsite venue with its massive fire pit took center stage, I knew we had to incorporate that element into our favour. As someone who has created multiple DIY tutorials for the blog, including wedding favour DIYs, I was excited to put my own spin on this classic idea. Making 100 of these kits was a labor of love, but it was worth it to see our guests enjoy them at the reception and take home a sweet memento. The process is surprisingly simple, and I’m happy to walk you through it in case you’re considering doing something similar for your own celebration. A top tip: be sure to communicate with your venue ahead of time – we learned that having roasting poles on hand can make all the difference!
What You Need
For our camping adventure, we relied on a few essential items to create a sweet and indulgent experience. These included marshmallows, skewers which we displayed in a jar on the table for easy access, cellophane bags to keep everything fresh, stickers and pens for a fun activity, biscuits and chocolate for a tasty treat, and of course, a candle or fire pit for toasting our marshmallows to perfection. To accommodate my gluten intolerance, all of our ingredients were carefully selected to be gluten-free. We sourced many of these items through online marketplaces like eBay and Amazon.

Before commencing the assembly process, I suggest setting up a mini-production line to maximize efficiency. A key consideration is experimenting with different stack layouts beforehand, rather than committing to a specific order right away.

Begin by gently unzipping your bag and carefully placing the biscuits at the base, arranging them in a deliberate pattern to ensure they’re secure and easy to access.

To complete the packaging, we carefully arranged four rich and velvety chocolate squares atop the crispy biscuit foundation, ensuring a satisfying visual appeal that hinted at the delightful treats within.

When packing snacks for a journey or storing them at home, it’s essential to take the extra step to ensure they remain fresh and organized. To do this, gently yet deliberately fold your bag, taking care to tuck in any loose edges or corners, thereby securing your treats within. By doing so, you’ll be able to maintain a tidy and easily accessible storage space, making it simple to grab what you need on the go.

Secure the gift bag with your custom-designed labels, which I opted to pair with kraft paper hearts adorned with hand-illustrated monograms. The personal touch added a special charm to each label.
To ensure the contents remain fresh and intact until the big day, it’s essential to store the gift bag safely. We waited until the last minute to do so, allowing us to keep everything at its best quality.
Once you’ve got your gift bag all wrapped up, consider showcasing it on your place settings or displaying it in a unique vessel, like we did with a borrowed barrel from Fleur De Lace. Adding a rustic sign, crafted by the talented team at Fleur De Lace, added an extra layer of charm to our display.
