A picturesque Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center wedding in Texas, captured by Chelsea and Ben’s love story, is a true masterpiece. The whimsical meadow-inspired setting was abuzz with vibrant pink and red flowers, while the couple’s stylish attire added an extra layer of elegance to the proceedings. As if the scenery wasn’t stunning enough, the sunlight-drenched outdoor garden ceremony served as the perfect backdrop for their special moment. A thoughtful nod to Ben’s Dutch heritage was also incorporated through the use of striking delft blue patterns in the decor, adding a unique and personal touch to the celebration. It’s a true dream come true! We’re grateful to Two Pair Photography and Ashley Nicole Affair for sharing these breathtaking images with us.
Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Wedding
How We Met
The serendipity of life brought Ben and me together in high school on a small island in Washington. Born in New Zealand and Alaska respectively, it was as if fate had conspired to bring us together. Fast forward 14 years, we shared another unforgettable moment – our favorite kiss – at the picturesque Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas, a world away from where our journey began.
The Vision
We envisioned a whimsical atmosphere that blended the freshness of a modern meadow with subtle nods to Dutch charm. As our wedding took place in the evening, we aimed to create a sense of effortless elegance, reminiscent of a starlit dinner party where loved ones could gather and celebrate with us. The goal was to craft an ambiance that felt like a warm invitation under the night sky, where memories would be made and cherished.
The Planning
As I reflect on our wedding planning journey, two things that stood out were the people and resources that played a crucial role. Pinterest became an invaluable source of inspiration, my planners provided expert guidance, and my family offered emotional support and encouragement. Having these pillars of support allowed me to effectively bounce ideas off them and make informed decisions throughout the process. Looking back on our special day, I’m reminded of how it perfectly captured the essence of who we are as a couple – a reflection that still gives me butterflies thinking about it.
The Flowers
To infuse my event with a distinct personality, I sought to make florals an integral part of the overall aesthetic. To achieve this, I collaborated with a skilled florist who specializes in showcasing local blooms and blending them with vibrant colors in a way that feels almost artistic.
The Styling & Decor
To infuse Ben’s Dutch heritage into the wedding celebration, I devoted considerable time to brainstorming creative ways to weave cultural elements into the overall aesthetic. One such idea was incorporating blue and white plates across the tablescape, serving as a stunning nod to his heritage. Additionally, we strategically placed ginger jars throughout the venue, allowing the couple’s cultural roots to shine through in subtle yet meaningful ways.
